Description
We’re tired of those pseudo ski poles, mere repurposed hiking poles with easily bent and damaged shafts. We were determined to create a sturdy, comfortable, and elegant ski pole.
The Asgard Ridge Ski Pole is engineered from 7075-T6 aluminum for rock-solid strength and reliable feedback, then finished with an extra-long 35 cm EVA grip for easy hand shifts in variable terrain.
Alpine Loop wrist straps dial in a comfortable fit with gloves, while an all-aluminum external lock delivers firm, repeatable clamping from 110 to 140 cm.
The included VersaBaskets feature a standard tripod mount and anti-rotation design so your action camera captures smooth, stable shots; a 1/4 in interface above the grip supports 360 cams too.
Wondering “Are adjustable ski poles good for resort and backcountry days?” or “Which ski poles are best for beginners?” Start here: simple sizing, confident locks, and camera-ready hardware for all-mountain laps.
Grab a pair and ski with fewer worries and better footage!

FAQs
Q: What are the best ski poles for all-mountain skiing?
A: Look for durable aluminum, secure locks, and versatile grips. Ridge delivers 7075-T6 strength, an all-aluminum lock, and a 35 cm EVA grip.
Q: What are the best ski poles for resort and backcountry use?
A: Look for reinforced aluminum shafts, secure locks, long foam grips, and dependable snow baskets. Ridge Ski Poles are tuned for skiing stability and camera-ready versatility.
Q: How do I use a ski pole size chart to choose the right length?
A: Start with elbows at 90 degrees on flat ground, then fine-tune: shorter for climbs, slightly longer for traverses. The 110-140 cm range covers most skiers.
Q: Are adjustable ski poles good for resort and backcountry days?
A: Yes. Quick-on-snow adjustments suit varied terrain and conditions; the external lock keeps settings solid.
Q: How do aluminum ski poles compare to carbon for durability?
A: Aluminum generally bends before it snaps and handles resort abuse well; 7075-T6 is a proven choice for longevity.
Q: Can I mount a GoPro without wobble?
A: Yes. The VersaBasket includes a standard tripod mount with anti-rotation for stable POV footage.
Q: Does this pole work with Versamount Lite or Versamount Mini?
A: No. Ski poles are slimmer than trekking poles; Versamount clamps will not securely fit.
Q: Where can I buy replacement baskets?
A: Get spares or upgrades here: Asgard VersaBaskets.
Q: How do I keep the external locks performing in freezing, snowy conditions?
A: After each day, collapse the poles, shake out snow, and let them dry. If clamping force fades, tighten the lock’s tension screw a quarter turn and re-test. Avoid oils/grease on lock faces—they attract grit and reduce friction.
Q: Does the VersaBasket included with the ski poles work with quick-release action cams?
A: Yes. The VersaBasket (similar to VersaMount Lite) is compatible with quick-release mounts used by GoPro, Insta360, and DJI. Insert your camera’s standard quick-release base; the built-in anti-rotation helps keep footage steady.
Q: What can I mount on the top 1/4″ interface?
A: The top 1/4″ interface (similar to VersaMount Mini) is ideal for 360 cams like Insta360 X5 and DJI Osmo 360. But you’ll need a 1/4″-to-1/4″ male-to-male screw adapter to attach. Tighten firmly (don’t over-torque) and recheck before you drop in.
Q: Can I use Asgard Ridge Ski Poles for hiking or alpine travel?
A: You can in a pinch, but Ridge Ski Poles are built for skiing, with reinforced shafts, long grips, and camera mount support. While they can handle tough terrain, if you’re mainly focused on alpine hiking, trekking, or compact packability, check out the Asgard Hybrid Poles or Asgard Hydrogen Poles 2.0.
Q: How do I set pole length for different terrain?
A: Start near elbow height for groomers, shorten slightly for moguls/steeps, and lengthen a touch for flats or skating approaches. Small adjustments improve rhythm and control.
Q: Will the camera mount affect swing weight or balance?
A: Versa hardware is designed to stay compact and close to the snow line. For the lightest on-piste feel, remove camera gear when not filming.
Q: How do I prevent pole slippage in cold or wet conditions?
A: Before riding, ensure clamps are firmly tensioned and free of snow/ice. If grip changes with temperature, re-check lever tension in a warm area and wipe joints dry.
Q: What’s the difference between Ridge Ski Poles and Hybrid Poles?
A: Ridge is optimized for skiing (reinforced shafts, long grip, included VersaBaskets, camera support). Hybrid focuses on alpine hiking/trekking with compact packability; see Asgard Hybrid Poles.
Q: Do Ridge Ski Poles work for powder days and variable snow in Canada/US resorts?
A: Yes. The included VersaBaskets and robust shafts are designed for soft and mixed resort conditions common across the US and Canada.
Q: How should I care for aluminum ski poles after a trip?
A: Rinse off salt/road grime, dry thoroughly, and store with locks loosened. Avoid long-term moisture to protect hardware and grips.
Q: What’s included in the box?
A: One pair of Ridge Ski Poles and two VersaBaskets. Packaging contents may vary slightly by batch; please refer to the product page photos and “What’s Included” section for the latest details.
Q: I need trekking-first poles with camera options, what do you recommend?
A: Choose the Asgard Hybrid Poles for compact packed length and hiking ergonomics, plus compatibility with VersaMount and VersaBasket accessories.
Q: Do Hydrogen Poles support the VersaBasket?
A: No. Hydrogen is an ultralight carbon trekking design without VersaBasket support. For skiing or camera-forward snow use, stay with Ridge (included VersaBaskets) or choose Hybrid for alpine trekking.
Q: How do I get support if I have an issue?
A: Reach out anytime via our Contact page, and we’ll help promptly with setup, parts, or warranty questions.
